A new redesigned Hallicrafters PS-150-120 power supply
In this project, the PS-150-120 will be full regulated.
We have already started the first testing procedures.
The photos below show our experience with the IRFPG50 1000V MOSFET.
We have attached all components temporaryly to the original PS-150-120
chassis just to test our HV regulated solution.
We've got HV 600V (very stable even during Tx).
The next step will be the regulated 250V B+ and check the performance
improvements of the VFO, AGC, etc.
We will be soon showing the complete schematics. It's very simple.
The last step will be to set-up the whole PS with the new transformer.
The new transformer
The new transformer has the following specifications:
Output Voltage Max. Load Current 600VAC 350 mA 300 VAC 200 mA 125 VAC 6.5 mA 12.6 VAC 4.5 A
The HV secondary provides 600 VAC with 350 mA of maximum load current.
This means 100 mA more than the original one.
Some photos about the testing procedures with the original PS-150-120

This picture shows the overall testing set-up.
This picture shows the ZENER's, the extra electrolytic filtering capacitors and bleeders.
We tried extra electrolytes filtering capacitors connected to the IRFPG50 MOSFET gate.
The picture above shows part of the components that will be used to build the
new redesigned PS-150-120. See the new transformer.
